After our long 147 mile overnight passage to Mazatlan we were both exhausted so after we got checked in at the office we immediately took a long nap. Without the tossing of the ocean and blasting air conditioning we slept like babies. The basin we are staying at in Mazatlan is surrounded by restaurants, coffee shops and even a nail salon. So it was pretty much a given I wasn't going to make dinner and with our naps it gave us the strength to walk around the basin to La Tostaderia del Mar. We were both so happy to be in our new setting and to have a welcome drink and celebrate our accomplishment of making it down the east coast of the Sea of Cortes. Jeff had an octopus and fish tostada and I had a vegan tostada. We had beers and were muy contento.

The next five days were spent sleeping in, having slow mornings and doing much needed projects on the boat including getting a new generator battery Jeff had waiting for us here since this is the first time we would be in one place for a couple of weeks. I got caught up on laundry and started to think ahead to our trip to Lima for my cousin Ethan's wedding. We enjoyed going to the couple of coffee shops that were here and I got my nails done for the first time in a very long time. It was nice to be land lubbers for a short time and enjoy the amenities of a city. We also met a nice man named Luis who manages boats who arranged for boat washers to come and would also be the one to give us a ride to the airport at 4a.m. Boy were we lucky.
Finally on May 17th at 3a.m. the dreaded alarm went off and we trudged our way around the boat getting ready for Luis's 4a.m. pick up. He was punctual and the dark drive to the airport felt eerie. All three flights that day went off without a hitch and at 1a.m. Friday May 18th we landed in Columbus, Ohio. Thankfully we arranged to stay at an airport hotel that night and couldn't launch ourselves into bed any quicker then we did.
The next morning we drove to Lima with my sister and were all happy to be reunited and caught up on sleep. Since Jeff's birthday was right around the corner we celebrated that night with a nice birthday dinner with the family.

The next day was the main event and the reason we went back to Lima - Ethan and Ellie's Wedding. The ceremony was beautiful and the reception a blast as all our family weddings are. We enjoyed catching up with family and friends we hadn't seen in awhile and were glad we made the effort to come back.

The next day we were all a bit tired and sluggish. My mom and I drove Julia back to Columbus to catch her flight then had some much needed pizza upon our return to Lima.
Monday May 22nd, Jeff's actual birthday and our final day in Lima we met up with my best friend Vanessa for a walk and some birthday breakfast. I was so happy that we could carve out a little time to get together while we were home. At some point later that day we drove to Columbus to have birthday dinner with cousins and to spend the night due to our early flight out the following morning. Overall I think Jeff had a nice birthday day and night.

The next morning at 5am we made our way to the Columbus airport and caught our first of three flights back to Mazatlan. Another haul but fortunately Luis was there waiting to bring us home. Hot, humid and happy we were to be back on the boat.
